Papa Doc's
6523 University Ave.
San Diego, CA  92115
(619) 582-3627
This restaurant is on the west side of the Salvation Army Kroc Center on the south side of University Avenue in the corner of a strip mall. The food is touted as soul food and it is excellent. Lots of choices and the desserts were great too. An excellent dining experience. The only disappointment was in the very slow service but the atmosphere was pleasant. While the tables are not far apart the scenery is made pleasant with the addition of 2 large salt water aquariums. If you like good food at a reasonable value visit Papa Doc's.

Parioli Italian Bistro
647 South Highway 101
Solana Beach, CA  92075

So, I've returned to Parioli....and what a treat. a signature salad, a nice way to start, fresh arrucola balanced by chunky red beets, and a citrus vinaigrette. For my entree this evening, I enjoy the Roasted Pork Loin Chop with a lightly braised red cabbage in a light & fresh Fuji apple reduction served with REAL mashed patatoes. Perfect! Great food, great price, I also enjoyed the out-door patio! Thanks Piero & Antonio....

Philly Frank's Steaks
151 S. Rancho Santa Fe Rd.

San Marcos, CA  92069

(760) 591-0145
This was the best cheesesteak I've had since leaving Philadelphia 15 years ago.  The place is fun with the Philly team stuff on the walls.  It's family owned and operated from a Philly family.  Go check it out.
